Biography

Alex C. Valin is a PhD candidate whose work focuses on the intersections between writing and sound in African American literature, music, and cultural production. His dissertation examines low fidelity sound technology and ideology through late-20th century Black experimental writers including LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka, Fran Ross, Nathaniel Mackey, and Erna Brodber. He received a Master of Arts in the Humanities from the University of Chicago and a Bachelors of Arts in English from Oglethorpe University.
