Friday, February 22, 2019

The Department is delighted to announce that Hannah Weaver will be joining us this fall as our new junior medievalist. Weaver's doctoral studies at Harvard University focus on early medieval writing in French. Her thesis project explores the instability of the past in twelfth- and thirteenth-century French and English historiographical manuscripts, with a special focus on the Brut tradition. Her articles on the uses and revisions of stories about the past have appeared in ViatorArthuriana, and Manuscript Studies and she has an article forthcoming in the Harvard Library Bulletin.  In 2018, Weaver co-convened an international conference on Recycling, Revision, and Relocation in the Middle Ages, out of which a special issue of The Medieval Globe is forthcoming. Previously, Weaver taught French at public and private schools in the suburbs of Boston before deciding to pursue graduate work at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Medieval Studies (MA 2014) and subsequently at Harvard; most recently she studied at both the École des Chartes and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
