Before coming to Columbia, Christine earned an MPhil in English Studies (Criticism and Culture) from the University of Cambridge with a dissertation titled "‘Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay to mould me man?’: Transgender Readings and Reanimations of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein," and worked as a teen services librarian in the Baltimore County Public Library system.
