New majors and concentrators should contact Pamela Rodman (firstname.lastname@example.org) to request that their names be added to the department's undergraduate students e-mail list. Important information is regularly conveyed via e-mail.
Check the department website for announcements and upcoming events.
Majors and concentrators are always welcome in the English Department office in 602 Philosophy Hall. On the left before entering the office are two bulletin boards where material relevant to undergraduates is posted: internships, summer programs, writing contests. Inside the office (on the left counter past the mailboxes) are a variety of printed forms, such as course lists, distribution lists and major worksheets.
The department schedules several meetings each year to address various concerns of undergraduates. At the beginning of the fall there is an information session about the Senior Essay Program. Mid-fall, usually in late October, there is a meeting at which several faculty members speak with students who are interested in applying to graduate school. In the spring, the department holds an open house for newly declared majors. Times and locations are announced through the undergraduate students email list and are posted on the Department Calendar.
