Biography

Alice is writing a dissertation on the fear of racial degeneration in Victorian and Edwardian drama. She has published articles, reviews, and interviews on Shakespeare, modern American drama, and American performing arts. Her previous research has focused on dogs and humanism in Shakespeare’s plays and on AIDS and humanism in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America. A French native speaker, Alice has also studied and published on intercultural relationships between the United States and France (performances and intellectual exchanges, Antonin Artaud and the American avant-garde). At the moment, she is interested in the New Drama, British theatre at the turn of the 20th century, women in Edwardian theatre, and Victorian performance culture.
