C18 Colloquium

The 18th-Century British Colloquium brings together graduate students and faculty working in the long eighteenth century, offering a conversational space for the numerous topics that define the period: Enlightenment, empire, slavery, aesthetics, the novel, political thought, print culture, Romanticism, and environmental history. Our events have included guest speakers, a “New Works in C18” reading group, graduate student article and dissertation chapter workshops, and socials. We regularly collaborate across periods and geographic boundaries, most recently with the 19th-Century British Colloquium on events engaging Romanticism and with the Early Americanist Colloquium on work concerning the colonial Caribbean.
