Biography

B.A., Cambridge (1994); Ph.D., Princeton (2000). Erik Gray specializes in poetry, particularly of nineteenth-century Britain. His books include The Poetry of Indifference, from the Romantics to the Rubáiyát (2005), Milton and the Victorians (2009), and The Art of Love Poetry (2018), as well as editions of Tennyson and Spenser. Most recently he co-edited Victorian Poetry: An Anthology (2025). He is also the author of many articles about poetry, plus a few about novels. His teaching includes courses on nineteenth-century British literature as well as more transhistorical courses on poetry.
