Justin Huwe is a first-year PhD student in the Department of English and Comparative Literature. He studies queer aesthetics in contemporary art and literature, with a focus on representations of pain, trauma, and unhappiness. His work also explores questions of melodrama and performance.
In 2023, Justin earned BAs in English and Education & Social Transformation from UCLA. Before coming to Columbia, he worked as an art museum educator for four years, as well as a high school English language development instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area.
