Biography
Lauren Stockmon Brown is an advanced PhD Candidate and Provost’s Fellow at Columbia University in the Department of English and Comparative Literature (Theatre and Performance Studies). She is an internationally engaged researcher and educator exploring critical issues through interdisciplinary practice. At Columbia, she has held teaching appointments as a Writing Instructor and completed fellowships in research and academic administration across the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the School of General Studies, and Columbia Business School. Her research has been supported by the Folger Shakespeare Library and The Fulbright Program.
She earned her BA from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Appointed by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, she received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Dakar, Senegal, where she taught English as a second language and advanced research for her long-term public humanities project, My Colorful Nana.
