August 24, 2020

The Department of English and Comparative Literature is saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Jim Mirollo, at the age of 92.  James V. Mirollo was the Parr Professor of Comparative Literature Emeritus. He had taught at Columbia since 1967, specializing in European Renaissance and Baroque Literature and Art.  He helped found and taught in the Friends of the Heyman Center Alumni/ae Seminars, and was the recipient of a Great Teacher Award (1988), the Mark Van Doren Award (1995), and an Award for Distinguished Service to the Core Curriculum (1993).  We send our thoughts to his family and friends.
