Join The Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities for their New Book Series event honoringTo the Collector Belong the Spoils: Modernism and the Art of Appropriation by Annie Pfeifer. To the Collector Belong the Spoils rethinks collecting as an artistic, revolutionary, and appropriative modernist practice. Through a constellation of three author-collectors—Henry James, Walter Benjamin, and Carl Einstein—Pfeifer examines the relationship between literary modernism and twentieth-century practices of collecting objects.
Professor Pfeifer will be joined by Bruce Robbins, professor in the English Department, along with fellow panelists Claudia Breger, Andreas Huyssen, and Kristina C. Mendicino.
