Jennifer Wenzel has been named a recipient of the Lenfest Distinguished Columbia Faculty Award, which recognizes the excellence of faculty as teachers, scholars, and mentors of both undergraduate and graduate students within and outside the classroom setting.

Established in 2005 by a gift from late University Trustee Gerry Lenfest, awardees are nominated by students and faculty with final selections by the Executive Committee of Arts and Sciences. In addition to professional recognition, the award carries with it a significant stipend over a period of three years.

Wenzel is jointly appointed in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies, and explores topics of postcolonial theory, environmental and energy humanities, memory studies, and African and South Asian literatures in her scholarship and teaching.
